Nos encanta México!

This summer feels like it has passed by so quickly! Although university is over, I still felt crazy busy and always seem to be rushing form one thing to another! I am very happy to finally be blogging about the amazing Mexican vacation we took back in August...I have been so eager to share the photos!
Ten days spent watching sunrises and sunsets, swimming with whale sharks in the open ocean, snorkeling on the Great Maya Reef, zipping around on F1 speedboats, swimming with dolphins, cliff jumping, feeding iguanas, floating down lazy rivers, swinging on ziplines and of course finding some time to relax on the beautiful beaches sipping ice cold mojitos...they are definitely up there with the best days of my life!
Whilst we were there we also took the opportunity to visit one of the 'new' Seven wonders of the World, the Mayan pyramids of Chichen Itza. I was truly amazed by the intelligence of the Mayan people which came through in the architecture of their villages. They managed to suss out the structure of our solar system and how it worked without the use of a single telescope! The visit definitely sparked our determination to visit the other Seven Wonders of the World...where will we go next?!

One English Pound

Super excited about the first ever online poundshop! I have never been lucky enough to visit the store itself which pops up temporarily in London, selling goods created by designers under strict instructions that they must cost no more than £1.
The idea was founded by design collective Household and illustrator Sara Melin and is making its fourth appearance since its launch in April 2010. BUT...the online store closes TODAY so be quick if you want to get yourself some goodies! I have just made myself several pounds lighter and am extremely excited for the arrival of my new things!

Class of 2011

So after three amazing (and amazingly emotional) years at the University of the West of England, I have finally graduated with First Class Honours in BA(Hons) Graphic Design. The Graduation ceremony and the weekend of celebrations that followed was super good. Thank you to all my friends and family for supporting me through my degree and I wish the best of luck to all my fellow graduates who made University the amazing experience that it was. Here's to the end of another era!

UWE Graduate Fashion Show

As the main part of their end of year show, the Fashion Design and Fashion Textiles students put on a fashion show to display their collections. I was asked by my friend Harri Mead to help out with modelling and not only got to model her amazing collection but also four other equally good collections. I was more than impressed with the originality and innovation of the collections and the quality of the garments themselves. Some serious hours must have gone into the design and production of the collections, not to mention the planning of the fashion show itself. It was an amazing event to be part of, witnessing the rollercoastering emotions of the fashion students through the drama of four shows spread over two days. The highlight was definitely watching the students reactions as their tutors named the ten lucky designers that had been selected to take their collections down to Graduate Fashion Week in London. Needless to say Harri was one of the talented designers picked...an opportunity well deserved!

UWE Degree Show 2011

So I finally managed to unpack my things after moving home over a month ago aaaand...oh hello camera lead! I can now begin to fill in the gaps of all the things that have happened since our final uni deadline. Firstly, was the degree show. I was more than impressed with the work of my friends and fellow students, not just on the Graphic Design course but throughout the campus. We did a show and we showed it good. The atmosphere of the opening night was amazing and it was lovely to be able to finally show my family what I had been working so hard on for months! Here are some pictures of the Graphic Design show...well done guys and girls!

It's Been Too Long...Again.

So here I am apologising for my blogging rubbishness once again...except this time my reason is more than valid. I have had a busy couple of months which has all just blurred into one big emotional roller coaster ride. It all began with the final deadline for my Self Directed Study...followed with excess celebrations of freedom of course. The week after I modelled for a friend in the UWE Graduate Fashion Show, then my work was displayed for a week at the UWE Degree Show, I attended the ISTD Awards ceremony in London and packed up three years of my life in Bristol and moved back to sunny Sussex! Finally, and perhaps most importantly, today I received my final degree classification.  I am now more than happy to say that I passed my degree with First Class Honours!
I will post up the pictures of the above events and of my final work that was displayed in the degree show...just as soon as I find the lead for my camera in one of those neatly packed boxes...hmmm.
